Tom Stanis is the Chief Executive Officer at Story Health where he leads a team building adaptive virtualized care products for medical specialists. Previously, Tom was co-founder and Head of Software at Verily, Alphabet’s healthcare division, where he oversaw the development of all of Verily’s software products including medical devices, care systems, and research platforms. Before Verily, Tom was a Google principal engineer building core systems inside of Google’s highly successful AdWords system. Tom serves on the advisory board of Duke Forge, the university’s center for actionable health data science. Tom holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin.
Tom is fairly obsessed with pedal bikes. Bailing on an unpromising career in amateur road racing, he now enjoys the trails of the Santa Cruz mountains. For some bizarre reason he prefers to ride up hills unreasonably fast.
Nikhil runs Product management at Story Health where he designs and implements the core products for Story Health including clinician tools and patient experiences. Prior to Story Health, Nikhil worked with Tom at Verily where he was the lead product manager for Verily’s Onduo diabetes management product. At Google, Nikhil held product management roles at YouTube, Google Analytics and was the co-creator of Google Data Studio.
Nikhil is an electric car aficionado spending an inordinate amount of time learning, testing and thinking about how we move towards a sustainable future.
Dr. Ashul Govil is the Chief Medical Officer, overseeing all medical and clinical aspects of Story Health’s products. Dr. Govil maintains a cardiology practice in the SF Bay area where he continues to care for patients. In addition to his practice, he has been working and advising on health tech, medical devices, and pharma for over a decade. Prior to this, Dr. Govil served in the regulatory offices of the Food and Drug Administration, where he evaluated medical device safety/efficacy and design. Dr. Govil received his MD/MBA from University of Virginia, trained at Johns Hopkins during his residency, and served as chief cardiology fellow at CPMC. Among his awards, he felt humbled after recently receiving Sutter Health’s Patient Choice Award, given to the top 3 physicians selected by patients from thousands in the Sutter medical network.
Ashul’s passion for improving patient care is matched only by his joy in exploring the outdoors and relearning the magic of nature through the eyes of his two young boys.
